Chattogram mountaineer Dr. Babar Ali marks historic achievement for Bangladesh

Dr. Babar Ali, a renowned mountaineer from Chattogram and a member of the esteemed mountaineering club “Vertical Dreamers,” successfully summited Mount Everest on Sunday 19 May 2024 at 8:30 am local time (8:45 Bangladesh Time). His ascent marks the end of an 11-year wait since the last Bangladeshi climber reached the summit of the world’s highest mountain. Dr. Babar Ali’s achievement is a testament to his dedication and perseverance in the field of mountaineering. Building on this success, he also plans to attempt the summit of Mount Lhotse, the world’s fourth-highest peak. This additional climb will further solidify his status as one of Bangladesh’s premier mountaineers.

Dr. Babar Ali boasts an impressive mountaineering portfolio. He is the first Bangladeshi to summit Mount Ama Dablam, a highly prestigious and challenging peak. His journey to Everest included a successful ascent of Mount Lobuche for acclimatization, demonstrating his meticulous preparation and commitment to the sport.
