Rope4 ‘Ama Dablam’ expedition: Climbing for those who rise everyday!
“Disability is not a limitation but a different form of strength!”
The message through the ‘Ama Dablam’ expedition is that disability should not be viewed as a limitation, but rather as a source of strength. Rope4 ‘Ama Dablam’ expedition aims to promote the inclusion, courage, and creativity of children with special needs.
Rope4’s promising Climbers Mohammad Abrarul Amin (Arnob) and Ahoshanuzzaman Toukir, are set to embark on the ‘Ama Dablam‘ mountain expedition. Due to its towering peaks and steep slopes, Ama Dablam is often called the “Matterhorn of the Himalayas”. Their journey will highlight the courage, creativity, and brilliance of children with special needs, showcasing their contributions to our world! The term ‘Ama Dablum’ means ‘Mother’s Necklace’. This expedition will be conducted solely with the support of Rope4 Outdoor Education, without any external sponsorship.
Through their collaboration with DESI School at Rope4 Outdoor Education, they have witnessed how outdoor education can help children with special needs thrive beyond conventional boundaries. Today, some of these children proudly represent Bangladesh at the Paralympics, showcasing their strength, resilience, and the transformative power of inclusive education. As climbers, they now aspire to carry this goal with them to the summit. The team believes that every ascent is more than just a personal achievement!
They wish to dedicate their climb to amplifying the voices of marginalized children in society. Through symbolic climbing and storytelling, they aim to convey to the world that disabilities are not limitations, but a different kind of strength. In the narrative of their climb to the peak, these children remind us of the courage, creativity, and light they bring to our world. The therapy and education provided at CRP for children with special needs in our country reveals the resilience and talent inherent in every child marked as “special.” To truly value their efforts, we must ensure their inclusion in society!
Arnob and Toukir are committed to spreading this message to everyone. Arnob states that as a mountaineer, he now aims to take this goal to the summit with them. He believes that every ascent is more than just a personal achievement! They want to dedicate their climb to amplifying the voices of children overlooked by society. Through symbolic climbing and storytelling, they wish to convey to the world that obstacles are not limitations, but a different kind of strength. In the story of their ascent, these children show us that our world is filled with possibilities.
Abrarul Amin Arnob is an adventure leader, rock climber, and mountaineer. Since 2018, he has been actively involved in the outdoor education and adventure activities of Bangladesh. His journey in exploration did not just begin in the Himalayan mountains; it also took him along the rugged paths of the Bandarban hills, to one of Bangladesh’s highest peaks, Keokradong, where he first discovered his patience, passion, and mental strength. In 2020, he led a cross-country cycling expedition from Tetulia to Teknaf in just 8 days, completing a journey across the entire country of Bangladesh.
His journey in the Himalayas began in 2021. He successfully reached the summit and took on a leadership role. He has led teams to several peaks over 6000 meters, including Mera Peak, Yala Peak, and Island Peak, and has trekked iconic routes like the ‘Everest Base Camp’ trek. His technical training includes basic and advanced rock climbing certifications from India, where he was recognized as the top student. Arnob is a core member of Rope4 Outdoor Education, where he mentors youth, organizes training programs, and co-leads national initiatives like Mission Himalaya, a groundbreaking competition that has introduced healthy competition in mountaineering across Bangladesh.
Ahoshanuzzaman Toukir is a young mountaineer with a deep love for exploring the world’s most challenging and breathtaking peaks. Driven by an indomitable drive for adventure and a deep love for nature, he continues to push his limits and reach new heights. Despite his young age, Toukir has been working tirelessly to master the difficult and challenging sport of mountaineering and has so far summited 6,000-meter peaks 5 times.
He is the first Bangladeshi to complete these three peaks in a single expedition: Mera Peak-Central, Island Peak and Lobuche East Peak. This expedition is not just about reaching a peak, but about carrying a message. The message that resilience knows no boundaries, inclusion builds strength, and the courage of children with disabilities can inspire a nation. This journey is a movement, through which we can raise the voices of those who are unheard and prove that every child, regardless of ability, deserves the opportunity to stand up, shine, and be appreciated.
