Rope4 Outdoor Education has organized the press conference and flag handover ceremony for the ‘Mission Himalaya 2019 expedition to Yala Peak, Nepal’ on Friday 15 November 2019 at Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall, National Press Club, Dhaka.

Mr. Mir Shamsul Alam Baboo, Mountaineering Trainer, Mountaineer Ahmed Riad, and Bicycle activist Fuad Ahasan Chowdhury were present as Guests of the ceremony. They along with the Founders of Rope4 handed over the Bangladesh flag to the Expedition team members.

Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, The Daily Star, peak 69 and Living with Forest are the partners of the event. In addition to that, many well-wishers are supporting the cause from behind. 

Mission Himalaya 2019 is devoted to the young people of Bangladesh to discover their hidden strengths. The young generation is highly dependent on technology for their entertainment and leisure time; unfortunately, many spend their free time engaging in negative (drugs for instance) activities and it is for this reason that their physical strength is hidden. This is how we are behind with potential youth energy which is vital for social development. 

Rope4 would like to introduce to the young people of Bangladesh with positive adventure activities like Mountaineering through Mission Himalaya initiative each year. This is leading our youth towards an active and healthy lifestyle for their personal development.

Mission Himalaya 2019 contained the steps that, an audition attended by 68 interested participants at Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation in July this year. Shortlisted 25 participants from the audition attended a 4-day long ‘Preparation for the Expedition’ training camp at Hazarikhil Wildlife Sanctuary in September 2019. The best 3 performers from the training camp have been awarded for a Himalayan Expedition to Yala Peak, Nepal in November 2019. The expedition is fully sponsored by Rope4. Winners are Asaduzzaman, Hiba Sharafuddin, and Neel Hurerjahan.  

The awarded expedition will take place from 21 November to 05 December 2019 in the Langtang region of Nepal. Founders of Rope4, Mountaineering Trainer Mohiuddin Mahi and Marufa Haque, they are determining to support the youth development of Bangladesh through mountaineering. Rope4 activities are strictly out of any harmful addiction including smoking.
