BD Mountaineers Summit 2025

Rope4’s conceptional creation project, BD Mountaineers Summit, has successfully concluded its second season, marked by a fruitful partnership and collaboration from multiple similar organizations as co-organizer.

After the successful first edition of the BD Mountaineers Summit in 2023, the event returned for its second edition in February 2025. The years 2023-2024 evident to be the highest number of climbing expeditions in Bangladesh’s mountaineering history, with many of them achieving great success. Notably, both male and female climbers participated equally in these adventures. Thanks to the efforts of young climbers, the country has seen some impressive milestones in its mountaineering journey. For the first time, climbers set foot on Lhotse, and they reached Everest for the sixth time. The Great Himalayan Trek also took place. Some climbers faced tough challenges from nature during their expeditions. However, being able to listen to what the mountains were saying allowed them to return safely, even if it meant leaving some adventures unfinished.

There have been quite a few personal initiatives alongside the organized expeditions under various club banners. Following the success of last year’s event, this year, all these scattered expeditions and adventurers have come together for the event named ‘BD Mountainous Summit 2025.’ Held at the Liberation War Museum auditorium in Agargaon, climbers shared stories from various expeditions planned for 2023 and 2024. Alongside familiar faces in the mountain climbing community, new climbers also shared their experiences with fellow mountain enthusiasts.

Since the beginning of this century, climbers from our country have started trekking towards the Himalayas. Within just a decade of starting, they reached the world’s highest peak, Everest. Since then, young climbers have been able to conquer various challenging summits, one after another. With the right opportunities and support, they can go far in this sport and repeatedly raise the Bangladeshi flag at various peaks. Experienced and senior climbers in the country shared insights about the history and overall state of mountaineering during the event.

On February 7th, Friday, from 4 PM to 8 PM, there was an event wrapping up two years of adventures and stories from climbers. It featured a Q&A session with the audience and climbers, along with two panel discussions and the launch of books related to adventure and mountaineering. This gathering brought together expeditions and adventurers from 2023 and 2024, organized collaboratively by Rope4 Outdoor Education, Ovijaatri, Bangla Mountaineering and Trekking Club, The Quest, Vertical Dreamers, Kewkradong BangladeshAudree and Crux WBD.
